I’ve followed the progress of the rebuild of the Whisstock’s boat shed with great interest. My father was Gordon Dunnett whose sister married John Whisstock. We spent many holidays in Woodbridge and remember Christmas when Claud Whisstock would join our family gatherings. Although young at the time, I found the history of the boat yard fascinating and it was so sad when the yard was closed and became derelict. I was very fortunate to meet and stay with John Gibbins and his wife by pure coincidence through friends in Gloucestershire where I now live. I know John was a keen sailor but I was so impressed with the wonderful project of his for bringing the Whisstock boat shed back to life. What a wonderful story and a wonderful person. Claude’s son is now a professor at Melbourne Monash university in Melbourne where my son and family now live. I must come and visit your wonderful project again soon. I agree that the use of the uilding should be broadened as it will benefit all Woodbridge taxpayers and indeed the whole of the County.
