Woodbridge Riverside Trust (WRT), the charity at the forefront of The Longshed

As a Trust, we are interested in the stretch of the River Deben from Kyson Point to Wilford Bridge. Our base is The Longshed. We have a long-term lease on the building from Woodbridge Town Council and are responsible for its day-to-day management and maintenance. As with most charities, WRT depends on a wide range of helpers, and support from donors, grant making organisations, and other fund-raising activities to cover maintenance costs and support improvement to the building.

A key objective for us is to develop the Longshed as a community asset that celebrates Woodbridge’s maritime and riverine heritage, while at the same time providing opportunities for education, training, volunteering and public involvement.

WRT aims to create opportunities for people of all ages – learning practical skills, discovering local history, developing confidence and accessing a wide range of activities

The Longshed belongs to the whole community and WRT’s role is to make sure that it remains an accessible, responsive, versatile and welcoming asset.
