Sae Wylfing awaits first performance of The King’s River

Tuesday 11 July was the opening night for The King’s River – telling the story of King Raedwald’s burial at Sutton Hoo, and the twentieth century archaeological discoveries.  Sae Wylfing, the half-sized replica of the King’s burial ship, is settled on the mud at low tide at the end of the slipway that joins the redeveloped Whisstocks boatyard to the river Deben.  She is here as part of the backdrop for the performances, the first part of which takes place in the open air in the new community space at the heart of the development.
