Opera in The Park (WRT Promotion)

In September 2021 Woodbridge Riverside Trust were proud to promote

‘Opera in the Park’  – “The Magic Flute”  by Mozart – in  Elmhurst Park.

For the second year running, Woodbridge Riverside Trust was the promotor of this Community Event in Elmhurst Park. Again, for the second year running, the weather was on our side!

The Opera was adapted and directed by Nick Fowler and produced by him and Caroline Bois.

In addition to professional lead singers, this year’s production involved children from local schools, an adult chorus from local choirs, and an orchestra of mainly local musicians directed by Andrew Leach.

This was a free event, attended by over 250 people, and it could not have happened without generous support and grant aid from: Woodbridge Town Council, who gave a grant and free use of Elmhurst Park; Caroline Page, Suffolk County Councillor for Woodbridge from her personal Locality Budget; Kay Yule and Chris Mabey, East Suffolk District Councillors from their Enabling Communities Budget. The National Lottery Community Fund’s ‘Local Connections’ budget, which supplied a grant for coaching the children in song and dance. Donations from many private individuals.

We couldn’t have done it without you!

This was a special occasion, not just because it was a community event enjoyed by all ages, but because it gave singers and musicians starved of opportunities to perform during the Covid pandemic, a chance to connect with an audience in an ‘out of doors’ setting – and showcase the tremendous talent we have locally.
