She’s home
After her road trip to Kingston on Thames and carrying the King’s re-enactor to the site of King Æthelstan’s coronation in 925AD , we are pleased to say that Sae Wylfing is back home at Whisstocks Place quay in Woodbridge where she is on display. Prior to her journey to Kingston she had some remedial work done to her hull and new tholes (rowlocks) fitted by volunteers from the Sutton Hoo Ships compnay so she is again very river worthy. Craning her off the Deben for her journey and relaunching her on her return and giving her a fresh coat of paint was done by Melton Boatyard to whom we are very gratfeul. She will remain at the Quayside for the next few months but will have her weather cover fitted for the winter period. Sae Wylfing the half length copy of the Sutton Hoo Burial Ship was built in 1993 by Edwin Gifford in Southampton and is now on permanent loan to Woodbridge Riverside Trust (WRT) who hope to be able to take her out under sail on the Deben sometime next season.
