Grant Awards for “FOLLOW the SHIP”

A fantastic opportunity to be part of a ‘live’ and unique experimental archaeology project!
Woodbridge Riverside Trust and The Sutton Hoo Ship’s Company work in partnership to offer schools an opportunity to visit The Longshed and participate in a range of ‘hands-on’ activities associated with the River Deben, our local heritage and ecology, and with the amazing project by the Sutton Hoo Ship’s Company to build a reconstruction of the Sutton Hoo Burial Ship. This popular education programme is principally aimed at Key Stages 2 and 3.
Our Autumn and Spring term ‘schools weeks’ saw 262 children visit us, and we are very grateful to the
Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Sustainable Development Fund 2022-23 for a
generous grant towards the development and running costs of the programme.
We are also very pleased to report a generous grant for “Follow the Ship” from East Suffolk Council’s
Enabling Communities Budget Scheme, and to thank Cllr Kay Yule for her encouragement and support.
We set aside several days each school term for “Follow the Ship” and welcome enquiries from schools.
